Gail Joan Barisano, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Senior Care Center St Marys.

Gail was born April 10, 1936, in Teaneck, New Jersey, to Erwin Gerald Schneider and Eleanor Natalie Raffo. She was a gracious and loving military wife to Louis Barisano. Catholic by faith, she prayed daily and attended Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea and Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. Gail was a resident of St. Marys for 21 years.

Upon retirement Gail, Lou, and friends traveled all over the world, seeing what they missed in their military travels. She was a fabulous seamstress, gourmet cook, bridge player, had a green thumb and was relentless in her gardening. She loved her Osprey Cove water aerobics, tai chi, bridge and “Numero Uno Lunch” friends group. One of her dearest friends paid her the nicest compliment, she said Gail was beautiful, courageous and bold. A true inspiration, she never gave up and was fiercely independent and determined. Her pride and joy were her children and her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 64 years, Louis Barisano; son, Gregg Barisano (Denise) of Chester, Virginia; daughter, Gina Hoiles (Nick) of Parkland, Florida; grandchildren, Natalie Feister (Josh), Kathryn Barisano, Lt. j.g. Alexandra Hoiles and Lt. Zachary Hoiles (Emily); brother-in-law, Richard Barisano (Marie); three nieces, Terri Chase (Calvin), Denise Brown (Bill) and Gina Dortona (Gary); nephew, Chris Barisano (Michelle); and numerous other family members.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Schneider.

A celebration of Gail's life will be held May 7 at The Osprey Cove River Club. Gail will be inurned at the West Point Cadet Chapel, where she first saw Lou.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
