Johnny Lee Jacobs, 73, of Kingsland passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, after a long illness.
Johnny Lee Jacobs was born Feb. 13, 1944, in Kingsland. He was the second son of Deacon James E. and the late Rosa M. Jacobs also of Kingsland. Johnny graduated from Ralph Bunche High School in 1962.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, his wife, Maryann Jacobs; father, Deacon James E. Jacobs; one aunt, Ada B. Williams of Waverly; six children, Terri Hinds of Jacksonville, Fla., Daphne Diddell and Dedra Jacobs of Kingsland and Denise Johnson, Tina Cunningham and Jonathan Cunningham of Gaithersburg, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Rodrequkus (Shay) and Tristan Diddell, Lorenzo and Aaron Wilson, Vincent Montigillion, Kevin and Kyle Johnson, Lauren Tatum (Eric), Janae Cunningham, Jillian Hinds, Kenya and Jamayca; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Julius, Jerald and Jonathan (Jerlene) Jacobs, all of Kingsland; three sisters, Joyce Foreman of Kingsland and Joann Singleton and Jacqueline Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two nieces, Valerie Jacobs and Harriet Ballard who he loved like his own children; and nine devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at First African Missionary Baptist Church, 495 N. Lee St. in Kingsland, with Rev. K.C. Davis. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment is private.
